UNH seeks Assistant Professor of Horticultural Plant Breeding 

The University of New Hampshire seeks a tenure-track faculty member with demonstrated expertise in the area of plant genetic improvement. The appointee is expected to develop a research program focused on the applied genetic improvement of horticultural crops. Using genome-enabled trait development and breeding strategies, the candidate is expected to work on horticultural crop improvement. The search committee will begin reviewing applications on December 1, 2021.

Pythium in cucurbits: Temperature decides species | VSCNews

CucCAP Vegetable pathologist, Anthony Keinath reported on Pythium at last winter’s Mid-Atlantic Fruit & Vegetable Convention. Research at Clemson University has identified some of the pythium species that most commonly cause root and stem rot in cucurbits. This information can help researchers screen cultivars for resistance and may help growers tailor control programs.
