North Florida Watching for Powdery Mildew
Florida has a rapid diagnostic program in place for farmers to use. If they suspect that their crop has powdery mildew, the grower should reach out to their county Extension agent who will help them send a sample to the lab.

The January South Florida Pest and disease hotline reported that Whitefly pressure continues to range from low to moderate. Cucurbit downy mildew and powdery mildew are active in squash and cucumbers.

Survey seeks grafting information from watermelon growers
Researchers at the University of Florida, collaborating with the Clemson University, North Carolina State University, Ohio State University, Pennsylvania State University, Kansas State University, Washington State University, University of Arizona, University of California, Davis, and USDA Agricultural Research Service are seeking participants who grow tomatoes or watermelons to complete a short survey regarding the use of vegetable grafting practices. The information will help identify research and Extension needs for improving vegetable production.
Florida vegetable specialist recommend virus prevention strategy
Whiteflies cause feeding injury issues in vegetables and transmit two viruses: cucurbit leaf crumple virus and cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus. Sanitation of vegetable crops susceptible to whiteflies remains a key management strategy for Florida producers.
