The South Florida Pest and Disease Hotline is a newsletter published by Florida Extension Agents. In October, the newsletter reported on crop damage caused by Hurricane Ian, whitefly observations on watermelons, detection of Cucurbit leaf crumple virus in watermelon, and reports of gummy stem blight on watermelon.

Some new gummy stem blight (Didymella bryoniae) was reported in watermelon in Southwest Florida. Lower night temperatures have made conditions favorable for pathogen growth.
