CucCAP researchers provide updated disease control information for cucurbit growers

In early 2020, CucCAP Vegetable Pathology and Crop Production Extension Specialists published plant disease management reports and Cucurbit cultigen evaluations from recent field trials. These reports provide valuable information for cucurbit crop producers, seed companies and other CucCAP stakeholders. The 2019 Plant Disease Management Reports provide disease resistance information for downy mildew on cucumber, Phytophthora fruit rot of winter squash, and downy mildew on summer squash. In the 2019 Cucurbit Cultigen Evaluations, Melon, pumpkin, watermelon, and zucchini squash grown with conventional methods of disease control were evaluated for yields, marketability, culls, and signs of virus damage. Links to cucurbit disease management factsheets and vegetable production manuals on the CucCAP website were recently updated to provide current pesticide recommendations for cucurbit disease management. Two new factsheets from Michigan State University, Monitoring Cucurbit Downy Mildew and Managing Cucurbit Downy Mildew, replace a single publication from the past.
