Georgia researchers develop faster test for watermelon disease
University of Georgia researchers have now developed a faster way to detect the presence of one of the most damaging diseases of watermelons, Fusarium wilt, which is caused by a soilborne fungus. The test determines the races, or groups of strains, of the pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum (FON) that cause the disease. It is one of the most damaging diseases of watermelons worldwide.
