CucCAP scientists explore biorational fungicides to manage powdery mildew on winter squash

Squash illustrationCucurbit powdery mildew (CPM) is one of the most common diseases of winter squash. Increasing consumer demand for organic produce and concerns about environmental safety have driven efforts to find alternatives to conventional fungicides to control this disease. To this end, scientists at Cornell University performed field trials with winter squash to evaluate effectiveness of 10 biorational fungicides including biologicals, botanicals, and minerals. Knowledge gained from this study can inform current CPM management practices and the development of future tools for IPM strategies.
