CucCAP Plant Breeders and Extension Specialists will speak at November Meetings

On Tuesday November 28, Todd Wehner will speak about Cucumber Germplasm from NC State with High Resistance to Downy Mildew with Emily J. Silverman at the 32nd Annual Southeast Vegetable & Fruit Expo. Also at this meeting, Jonathan Schultheis from NC State will speak about Watermelon Production Management Considerations. Lina Quesada-Ocampo, from the NC State Vegetable disease lab will discuss Integrated management of Cucumber Downy Mildew with Kim D’Arcangelo and Mike Adams.

On Wednesday November 29, Jonathan Schultheis from NC State will speak about Cucurbit Cultivar Considerations, Specialty Melon Opportunities, and his research associate, Keith Starke will speak about melon cultivar Yield and Quality Considerations. Lina Quesada-Ocampo from NC State will speak about Host Tolerance and Chemical Control of Fusarium Wilt of Watermelon with Nathan Miller, Allie Druffel, and Hunter Collins. Researchers from Clemson University will discuss results from the 2017 Fungicide Trials with Anthracnose, Gummy Stem Blight, and Powdery Mildew on Watermelon.

The CucCAP group will hold their annual Spring meeting on April 4 & 5, 2018 at the Ruby McSwain center in the JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. Look for more information including the meeting agenda in an upcoming CucCAP chronical newsletter.

The 2018 Cucurbitaceae Conference will be held at University of California, Davis, CA USA on 11-16 November, 2018.
