Current research in the lab focuses on reproductive (flower and fruit) development in Cucumis (cucumber and melon). We are particularly interested in understanding the role of ethylene production, perception, and signaling in regulation of unisexual flower development using a combination of molecular genetic and transgenic approaches. Our questions regarding fruit development focus on early stages of fruit growth and factors influencing fruit size, shape, and resistance to infection by Phytophtora capcisi.
