South Carolina Cooperative Extension Specialists report that pests and diseases in cucurbits are low in the coastal region.

With watermelon and cantaloupes, a gap in fungicide protection of 7 days can lead to disease. Given the increased chances of rainfall, we are increasing protection against gummy stem blight.

In the Midland region of South Carolina, Extension agents are reporting that Squash and zucchini are being harvested now.

In the Upstate and Midland regions of South Carolina, Cooperative Extension agents are reporting that dry conditions have reduced disease presssure on crops.

In the South Carolina Low Country, Extension agents are reporting powdery mildew on squash and zucchini.
