Harvesting Genes to Improve Watermelons | BTI

Domesticated watermelon, Citrullus lanatus has some wild relatives. Work with six wild species of watermelon by CucCAP researchers Zhangjun Fei and Amnon Levi was recently highlighted in a post by BTI institute.

Researchers have now taken a comprehensive look at the genomes of all seven species. They then created a resource that could help plant breeders find wild watermelon genes with improved characteristics.
