Several new pumpkin, squash, and melon varieties that were developed at the NH Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of New Hampshire were released by cooperating seed companies recently.

The new varieties exhibit intermediate resistance to powdery mildew disease. Newly released Renegade pumpkin has powdery mildew resistance. The butternut variety Gabrielle an F1 hybrid is similar to the open pollinated variety Waltham Butternut, but with resistance to powdery mildew disease. True Love melon is resistant to fusarium wilt and powdery mildew.

This cucurbit breeding work was supported by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the state of New Hampshire.
